Question 1

Is PIKL free for players?

Accepted Answer

Yes. PIKL Player is free for players. You can find courts, discover clubs and groups, organise games, and keep track of your pickleball week without needing a paid player plan.

Question 2

Do I need to join a club to use PIKL?

Accepted Answer

No. You can use PIKL to find games, connect with other players, create or join player groups, and discover courts. Clubs are there when they add value for the way you want to play.

Question 3

How do I find pickleball games near me?

Accepted Answer

Start with courts, groups, or clubs near your area. A good listing shows the place, level, format, time, and any booking or join rules before you commit.

Question 4

Can I book or pay on web?

Accepted Answer

Yes, when a club or group session supports booking or payment. Web is useful for comparing details, checking the bigger schedule, and completing longer tasks.

Question 5

Is PIKL only about playing?

Accepted Answer

No. The off-court side belongs here too: drinks after league night, summer dinners, new-member mixers, taster days. Clubs and groups list these alongside their playing schedule, so the people side stays as visible as the games.

Question 6

What is a PIKL player group?

Accepted Answer

A player group is a place for regular players to organise games, share the next session, and keep people updated. It is lighter than a club and works well for weekly doubles, lunchtime games, ladders, and local sessions.

Question 7

Can I start a group for regular games?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Groups are for players who already have a regular game or want to build one. You can make the next session clearer by sharing the court, time, format, level, spaces, and join style.

Question 8

What does Groups+ add?

Accepted Answer

Groups+ is for organisers who need more structure around regular games, especially paid sessions, waitlists, and clearer controls as the group grows.

Question 9

What group information can be public?

Accepted Answer

A group can show public basics such as name, area, summary, regular courts, join style, and public updates. Member posts, private details, payments, and RSVP lists stay inside the group.

Question 10

What can clubs do with PIKL Club?

Accepted Answer

PIKL Club helps clubs publish sessions, manage bookings, collect payments, organise members, run leagues, share updates, and give players a clearer view of what is happening next.

Question 11

Is PIKL Club only for clubs with their own courts?

Accepted Answer

No. Clubs can run across dedicated courts, hired courts, shared venues, leisure centres, schools, parks, or temporary spaces. The important part is making the session details clear for players.

Question 12

How do leagues and division boxes work in PIKL?

Accepted Answer

Leagues give clubs a structured competition surface. Division boxes keep players grouped by level or stage, while fixtures, results, and standings help players follow what changes next.

Question 13

What does PIKL Assistant do for clubs?

Accepted Answer

PIKL Assistant is planned as a read-only helper for club organisers. It can answer practical questions about sessions, attendance, member groups, and club activity, while organisers stay in control of decisions.

Question 14

Can I find pickleball courts near me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. PIKL lets players browse places to play, compare court details where they are listed, and see clubs or groups already linked to those courts.

Question 15

What court details should I check before travelling?

Accepted Answer

Check indoor or outdoor setup, surface, lighting, booking rules, cost, parking, toilets, changing facilities, food and drink, and whether clubs or groups already play there.

Question 16

Can players suggest updates to court information?

Accepted Answer

Yes, where community updates are available. Players can suggest changes to court setup, amenities, opening times, cost, or description so listings stay useful for everyone.

Question 17

Why does some venue information look incomplete?

Accepted Answer

Public court data improves over time. Some places are community added, some are managed by clubs or venues, and some still need players or operators to confirm details.

Question 18

Can logged-out visitors see private group or club information?

Accepted Answer

No. Public pages only show approved public information. Member-only posts, attendee lists, payment status, private player details, and protected club or group content stay hidden.

Question 19

Are player profiles public by default?

Accepted Answer

No. Player visibility is controlled by privacy settings. PIKL does not make private ratings, future play, personal contact details, or membership activity public by default.

Question 20

Can clubs and groups post public updates?

Accepted Answer

Yes, when the organiser chooses to share an update publicly. Public updates help visitors understand what is active, while member-only updates stay inside the club or group.

Question 21

What should I avoid posting publicly?

Accepted Answer

Avoid private contact details, payment references, member-only links, safeguarding information, health details, or anything meant only for a specific club, group, or player.

Question 22

Does PIKL charge players to use the app?

Accepted Answer

No. The PIKL Player tier is free. You can find courts, join groups, RSVP to sessions, and track your play without paying. Some clubs and group organisers run paid sessions or memberships, but those fees go to them, not to PIKL.

Question 23

How are payments processed?

Accepted Answer

All payments — club memberships, session fees, league entries, group session fees — are processed by Stripe. PIKL does not hold member funds. Card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure forms and never touch our servers.

Question 24

Who handles refunds when a session is cancelled?

Accepted Answer

Refunds follow the published rules of the club or group running the session. Each organiser sets their own cancellation window and refund policy, and you should see those before you pay. Contact the organiser first; if you can't resolve it, email support@pikl.app and we'll help where we can.

Question 25

What does PIKL Club cost for organisers?

Accepted Answer

Pricing for club tools is on the for-clubs page. Free starter features cover small clubs running a handful of sessions. Larger clubs that need leagues, payments, and member management move to a paid plan, billed monthly with no long lock-in.

Question 26

Are there transaction fees?

Accepted Answer

Stripe charges its standard processing fees on each transaction. Where applicable, PIKL adds a small platform fee on paid bookings, shown to organisers before they enable payments. The total fee is always disclosed at checkout.

Question 27

How does PIKL sign-in work?

Accepted Answer

PIKL uses phone-number sign-in with a one-time code sent by SMS. No password to remember, no email-and-password combination to forget. You can also sign in with Apple or Google on the mobile apps.

Question 28

I lost my phone — how do I get back into my account?

Accepted Answer

Contact us at support@pikl.app from the email address tied to your account, or from a phone-number-verified family member if you have one. We'll verify your identity and help you change the phone number on file.

Question 29

Can I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open Settings → Privacy → Delete account on the web or mobile app. We delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except for limited records we have to keep for tax, audit, or safety reasons. See our privacy notice for the full retention details.

Question 30

Can I export my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. UK GDPR gives you the right to a copy of the personal data you provided. Email privacy@pikl.app from your account address and we'll send you the export within one month.

Question 31

Which countries does PIKL work in?

Accepted Answer

PIKL works wherever there is pickleball. Court coverage is best in the UK and growing fast across Europe and North America. Map and search work globally; some features that depend on local payment partners may not be available in every country yet.

Question 32

How old do I need to be to use PIKL?

Accepted Answer

You need to be at least 13 to create a PIKL account. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian needs to read our terms and agree to your use. Some paid club memberships require an adult to set up the payment.

Question 33

How do I get help?

Accepted Answer

Email support@pikl.app and tell us what's happening. Include the reference code from any error screen if you saw one. We aim to reply within a couple of working days, faster for urgent payment or safety issues.

Question 34

Is PIKL accessible?

Accepted Answer

We design PIKL to meet WCAG 2.1 AA where we can. We're not perfect — accessibility is an ongoing job. If something on PIKL doesn't work with your screen reader, keyboard, or assistive setup, please email support@pikl.app so we can fix it.

Question 35

How do I report a safety concern?

Accepted Answer

For an immediate safety concern at a venue or session, contact local emergency services. For abuse, harassment, or impersonation on PIKL, use the report option on the post or profile, or email support@pikl.app. For child safeguarding concerns, email safeguarding@pikl.app and we will act quickly.

Question 36

How do I correct a venue listing that's wrong?

Accepted Answer

Open the venue page and use the suggest-an-edit option, or email support@pikl.app with the venue name and what needs fixing. Where the venue has a verified club or operator on PIKL, we route the change to them.
